FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
SO WHAT IS A LOONLING?
A loonling is a baby loon. Many years ago, on one of our first family camps at Isle Royale, I was leading a group of young children along the water's edge when we ran into one of my my ranger pals who said "Awe, look at all of your little loonlings!" The name stuck. We continue to offer yearly programs at Isle Royale—a great spot for breeding pairs of North American loons.
